The FCC should only allow Olympic Broadcasters to bid on coverage if they agree to offer live broadcast. The winning Network is free to re-broadcast at anytime for revenue enhancement; but a live broadcast of all events is mandatory.
NBC chose taped broadcast coverage of the 2012 Summer Olympics to make sure they obtain prime time ad revenues. Holding a worldwide public event such as the Olympics "hostage" for ad revenues is the sole reason that the FCC needs to step in and guarantee universal live access to the event.
