I know Olivia from Chess Club and I think she deserves to stick with her friends for school!! Surely, there is a workaround at her base school!! Love the fight!!

Olivia deserves a well rounded education complete with her social needs met by joining clubs of interest to her. Please allow her to stay in her base school. Having a blind child myself, if I have said it once, I have said it a hundred times "Teachers teach our children, but we LIVE it" Her base school is the best placement for her. It really is possible that parents have the better solution for their own children as they know them better than anyone!!

As the parent of one of Olivia's best friends, I fully support Olivia's quest to go to her base school. She is intelligent, smart and is a role model for my daughter.

Olivia is one of the most inspiring young ladies I have met. Her eagerness to learn should not be held back by the Wake County school system. Allow her to attend the base school she deserves to attend and allow her to continue to climb the ladder of learning.

Olivia is a confident and creative young lady! She will make the most of her school years and is deserving of the opportunity to show the world that not all visually impaired students have the same needs. She should be given the chance to attend the same school she would attend if she were not visually impaired. She has a fantastic support system in her family and friends and will do well at her base school!!

While Olivia may have a visual impairment, her other academic needs are clearly not being meant. She should be educated in an environment that is challenging and meets her academic needs. Accommodations can and should be provided so she can access the curriculum.

I have a visual impairment and was stuck in a box for my education. My education was poor and I did not learn as much as I should have and could have! My social skills were impaired as well. I learned so much more since I've graduated nine years ago. I had to take online classes on my own time and my own ethics just to improve my education levels. A box is not the best!
