This Education Savings Account is just a fancy name for a voucher. Vouchers only serve to help those who don't need it, those who can afford to send their children to private schools. This proposed bill is unconstitutional under Oklahoma law and will only further harm public education in Oklahoma! Leave our kids and our schools alone!

I oppose SB 609 for many reasons, not the least of which is that it undermines public education at a time when it is already under significant attack. It will undoubtedly lead to less school choice and more segregation in our schools.

As a parent with children actually in private parochial schools I oppose SB 609. Our state has a constitutional mandate from our Founders to "maintain" a system of public education. If the people of this great state want to change that then we must amend the Consstitution through constitutionally established means.
