Common Core was slipped in on us through federal grant money offered during the recession. Upon applying for this grant money, the states had to agree to adopting a nationwide standard that had not even been written yet. For Florida, who worked it's way up from being one of the lowest in the nation, to one of the top in the nation, why are we trying to fix something that is not broken? Our teachers have worked hard, and it has showed up in the numbers. We do not need this criteria, it is not conducive to our children, in fact it is dumbing our children down, and indoctrination of a set of values, we would never teach our children. The Math expert would not even sign off on it because the standards were not as high as what was already in place. The language Arts and Writing portions are riddled with statements that are wrong. Literally saying, "Socialism is better than Capitalism". This is just a few examples. If you think this is not going to affect your child, you are wrong, please do some research, or talk to someone who knows about the standards. This has to be stopped, and it has to be stopped NOW.
