Same issue. Chrysler states this is normal I had a full oil consumption report done over period of 4 months. Unacceptable, especially because after pcv valve changed problem was fixed for about another oil change interval then started again.

Absolutely sucks. I have a 2011 wrangler. About several months ago I was visiting my daughter in Philadelphia, I live in Elmwood Park, N.J. I figured let me check the oil because I was do for an oil change when I got back. Lo and behold the dipstick was dry as a bone yet no oil light came on telling me I needed 2 quarts of oil.I put it in and when I went for oil change I mentioned it to the dealership. They said it might burn a little oil. Yeah ok I said I'll. Keep an eye on it. As I am writing this to you from my phone I stopped to get windshield fluid, so I checked the status of my oil and guess what no oil on my dipstick. I am currently due for an oil change. Still no light comes on. WTF. THIS IS GETTING RIDICULOUS! I have had this jeep for almost 2 years and I have 41593 miles on it.Yes I will sign your petition. I hope this works!!

Definitely never experienced this type of oil consumption with any other vehicle I've ever owned except for an old '63 Chevy with a set of bad rings. A quart per 1000 miles isn't acceptable and not very economical..

i own a 2009 jk sahara. went to change the oil today and only 2 quarts in there. always use synthetic. have around 79,000 miles. and go about 5000 between changes with the synthetic.

My jeep uses at least 3quarts of oil or more between oil changes. It has done so since the very first day I've owned it. I think Chrysler should stop ripping people off 30 plus thousand dollars and telling people its normal . I know for a fact it is not normal.

went to change oil and it was empty. two days later it was empty again. Changed to 5w-20 oil and it burned a lot less. I still have to check it and keep adding it I Now mechanic wants me to get a remanufactured motor. I'm hesitant to do this if it will just have the same problem

I am first owner having bought my 2008 jeep rubicon new in 2008. With a bit over 30,000 miles on it, the engine light came on one day at which point I checked the oil which wasn't due for a change and I discovered that the oil was at a dangerously low level. I can't sell it because I don't want to pass it on to someone else without disclosing the fact and noone would buy it from me if I did disclose the fact that it burns oil at approximately 1 qt every few hundred miles. The local dealership of course denies ownership of the problem. A definite love/hate relationship with this vehicle and with each passing month I love to hate the vehicle and Chryslers crooked corporate customer lack of regard even more.

I have a 2011 sahara w 62k and engine blew. Was told I spun a bearing due to lack of oil then was told there was oil consumption issue. Dip stick read full and no oil lt came on. was told the oil lt wouldn't come on b/c it was the bottom of the block that was hot. That doesn't make sense. Thats a defect. Dealership 1st lied and said claim was denied . I called my warranty co they stated no claim was ever filed. When a rep supposedly came down after 19 days. They denied the claim. After filing a complaint it round and round with no resolution. I'm in.

My 2010 Jeep Wrangler has had a slow oil consumption since i bought it at 19,000 miles, but over the past 70,000 miles it has got to the point where i loose not quite a quart a week, driving about 500 miles a week. Dealership told me this is normal, but i can smell it burning when i drive, no signs of leaking, plugs are clean, rear main seal is clean, oil pan, filter, drain plug all good. I will look at my valve cover gasket this weekend, but i can't believe this is normal.

I have a 2011 Jeep Sport unlimited and I am down 2 quarts of oil in only 1000 miles with only 24,700 miles on the odometer. My engine is knocking and pinging so loud that heads turn while I am driving down the street. Not a good advertisement for Jeep. You would think that they would repair this issue for free, even if only for public relations, but no! This is unacceptable.

2011 JK Wrangler Unlimited Sport. I need to add oil weekly . Oil consumption got worse at around 20-30K miles. I add 1/4 to 1/2 qt every week or 2. This is unacceptable. Other than that the vehicle has been great.

Yes, I burn ~2.5 quarts of synthetic oil before I hit 5000 miles. At $10 a quart that's around $500 of oil that pumped out my exhaust system into the environment. Also I've had to replace all my o2 sensors cause because they get damage from all the blow by oil that exits though the exhaust. With four sensors to replace at $45 bucks each that's another $180 in part not counting labor and the loss of fuel mileage due to the o2 sensor not supplying the correct fuel mixture, which causes poor fuel economy. Oil burning motors; possible cause identified? Obviously there's been dozens of threads & hundreds of posts her regarding the propensity of a good number of these 3.8L V6 motors to consume large quantities of oil, often leading to dry sumps & spun bearings, and a lot of conjecture as to the root cause; rings installed incorrectly, incorrectly assembled cranks, bad drain-back valves in oil filters causing dry starts, the specified low-viscosity 5W20 oil not being up to the job with loss of film strength resulting in damaged bearing surfaces, etc. There was a discussion about this on one of the local forums where I am & one of the members, who is a mechanic at one of the Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge dealerships here, chimed in about something I had not heard before. Apparently there was a known quantity of motors produced in '07 & early '08 that, due to a fault in the manufacturing processes at the engine plant, resulted in the blocks being bored & honed incorrectly resulting in one or more cylinders in the block being noticeably out-of-round. He stressed that the fault was limited to a small number of production runs and the number of motors affected would be statistically small compared to the total quantity of these blocks produced, however he has personally seen two of them go through his shop since the JK was introduced here 4 years ago. Bought 2008 Jeep Wrangler new from dealer.. all maintenance per spec.. Traded in 2012 due to tired of worrying about engine running out of oil.. Was adding a qt of oil every 1k miles.. Absolutely ridiculous... Never buying another jeep.. Chrysler is a joke!

Now have lifter-tick as a result and likely need new lifters, camshaft, and more, to be determined once engine is torn-down. I worried about buying American; I should have heeded my worries. Unless i get satisfaction, I will never consider purchasing a J/C/D product again and will influence all I can to do the same.

This known issue Jeep/Chrysler refuses to take ownership. There was no "low oil" notification cause a rod to get thrown putting a hole in my JKU's engine block.

I have a 2011 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport with 48,960 miles. I'm consuming 4 quarts between oil changes. I run Royal Purple full synthetic 5W20 and K&N filter. According to the dealership, the 3.8l engine is allowed to consume 1 quart per 750 miles after 50,000. This just shows how poor quality Chrysler is and will not fix the issue, but expects the customer to pay to bandaid the issue.

2008 Rubicon purchased used 6 months ago and add a quart every 800 miles. Owned a 2001 Jeep Wrangler for 14 years has 187k when I sold it and NEVER had to add any oil between oil changes. Its a shame so many people are having this problem. I took it to the dealer BCP in delaware and asked how much it would cost to repair it and they said its normal and not fixable. Shame because I love the truck.

My 2011 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited uses at least 3 quarts of oil between oil changes. There are no drops of oil on the ground and no smoke from the exhaust. The oil just disappears. It now has 86,000 thousand miles on it and I bought it new.

Before the consumption test they said that my engine needed to be replaced. Next thing they recommended was the oil consumption test. This isn't normal.

Now at 59,000 miles, it has broken rings using 1 qrt every 200 miles.. Offered less than half for replacement motor assistance from Jeep Customer Service. Just not right!

I've owned my 2007 Jeep Wrangler since March of 2007. It has used at least a quart of oil every 3000 sometimes more. I had all the usual tests done by the dealership and they acknowledged the oil consumption but, gave me a paper from Jeep stating that one quart every thousand miles was acceptable. I asked if the EPA would consider that ok. No comment. I was sent on my way....

2010 Wrangler started burning over 2 qts every 1,000 miles. Dealership performed the 3 part oil consumption test (which they screwed up the 2nd portion because of complete incompetence, informed me it was my PCV valve that was partially clogged. Tried to charge me $80 for an air filter and PCV valve, which I laughed at. I changed it myself, changed the oil and filter myself and after 1,000 miles there was barely any oil on the dipstick. Took it back to the dealership and they put on my receipt it burned only a quart to hide the issue and refuses to admit there is anything wrong. Chrysler sucks! Powertrain warranty is up in March of 2016 so I see the dealership just continue to blow smoke instead of fixing the damn problem!

My 2011 jeeps engine blow up after the vehicle used up 5 litres of oil within the next oil change. This is totally unacceptable.

Rebuilt the engine on my 2007 sahara unlimited at 95000 miles now 60000 more and I'm doing it again. This is my 6th jeep wrangler and this has been by far the worst vehicle I have ever owned. I have a 2003 Sahara with 199000 miles and have only had to replace the starter. The 4.0l is far superior.

2008 Rubicon 1-2 between 3,0000 mile oil changes no leaks. Also told it was normal until damages engine and then probably be told it voids lifetime power train warranty which is also a joke.

My question is has anybody had luck with a lawyer or a way to pursue Chrysler (FCA) about these issues. The petition is great if we can actually make something of this. I have an 08 sahara jk. The first motor went at 48k miles total loss. I change oil every 3k miles and it still was not enough. Then at 94k miles the tranny went which was related to the engine issues and then the 2motor at 98k miles. This jeep is a daily driver never offroaded, well taken care of and the only reason i held onto it was due to the lifetime warranty. Well at 150k miles the oil livht came on and before i could even think about it the jeep shut off at 45mph. No steering, brakes, etc. when i restarted sounded like rocks in the motor hence he third motor in this jeep. Now Chrysler (FCA) will not honor my lifetime warranty due to a loophole they say i didnt have my 5year inspection. Meanwhile it has been in a jeep dealership shop for a total rebuild twice in the first 5years and the dealership says they do an inspection everytime but that will not satisfy Chrysler (FCA). So i now have a jeep worth nothing. This vehicle has been nothing but a problem since day one. I have had numerous computer issues, brake issues and motor issues. I am very serious about a lawyer who may be able to handle this cause it will not fall under lemon law due to age. So there has to be a different approach. Chysler (FCA) has ruined the jeep brand name and does not care about the consumer in anyway and if u remember they were the first auto company to step up and ask for a bailout during the year this vehicle was made. Everyone reading this was a taxpayer who helped to keep this company alive. Only to be screwed over with product liability, product defects, breach of warranty issues as well as severe safety issues related to these motor problems. Any help or info would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou.

I put the best synthetic oil on the market,in my jeep I have just over 4,000 miles on synthetic oil,and this morning I cranked the jk up and it started ticking as an owner I check my oil very frequently,because making this jeep look amazing is a passion of mine,so I turned the engine off and 1st thing check the oil and none on the dip stick,I have no leaks,it doesn't smoke I have no signs of consumption...Idk I'm shocked to say the least and if this is jeep issue they should stand behind their product cause there sure proud of the prices on them when u buy them,smh

My husband purchased our 2011 jeep unlimted Sahara in December of 2010. He gave it to me as a Christmas gift! I was so excited I always wanted a jeep! I don't blame him, but it was the worse decision he ever made! The first engine went up at 56,000 miles. There was a broken rod baring and pieces of that metal ended up in the oil pan! We had a 100,000 mile warranty so it was covered. We chalked it up to bad luck! The jeep just hit 102,000 miles (46,000 miles on the new engine). I heard the same knocking noise, dropped it at the dealership and sure enough, same exact issue and needs a brand new engine! I contacted Chrysler because even though our original warranty was expired by 2,000 miles I felt like the cost should be covered by chrysler considering the engine only had 46,000 miles on it!! I was told that the warranty is over no matter what at 100,000 miles even if the engine was replaced by the dealership! They finally came back after a week and a half of me calling and complaining with an offer of $3500 towards the total of $6500! Why should I have to pay a dime towards a bad motor that replaced another bad motor! The dealership even recommend that it be covered, as there was absolutely no sign of neglect on my part either time! I lost my job due to being without a vehicle for over a week! I was told by Chrysler that I should be grateful they even offered me anything towards the repair cost... I should be grateful that I need to pay $3,000 and lost a great job to due a faulty engine that should have been recalled years ago!? Worst customer service!! As of now chrysler has told me I have 30 days to accept their offer of paying a little more than half. I will absolutely not pay anything that has happened at no fault of mine! First vehicle in a long time I have had to check the oil every single week. Reminds me of my 73 Blazer when I was teenager. Seems like all I really have to do is change the filter regularly.

My 2011 has 43,459 miles and it has been using oil since i bought new. At first i thought the rings needed time to set and seal but after 10000 miles my worst fears were realized. I called the warranty office moPar protection and they stated coverage good for 60,000 miles. I took jeep to dick hannah dealer they stated that it is normal but I know Better from being a self taught auto mechanic for 35 years now and I rebuilt many engines and know . Not boasting here but the dealer did nothing to help fix anything except deceive me and put a dye in the oil which will after i drive 500 miles and bring back they will inspect for leaks! One advisor told me they performed multiple consumption tests and all they did was top off oil and add dye to it. I previosley requested them to do a leakdown compression test because i know engines ang how to test them too but they did not do that test either. Well see what what they say when i take it back . I took Photo of oil level same day i got back from dealer and it was over filled by about 3/4 of a quart not sure why! Sent picture to service advisor and to compare to the photo they took which i had a hard time viewing oil on the dipstick! I am considering taking to a small certified shoP here to have them perform an independent leakdown engine evaluation test and bringing it with me

I went to take my 2011 Jeep Wrangler in for an oil change and was told it was a quart low. Since the oil change, it has lost another quart. No leaks, so it must be burning the oil.

Mine only has 109 k miles and it uses way too much oil for an engine that is still young.

First time I notice something is that the low oil warning or oil pressure light would only go on during a turn really quick. All I heard was a ding until I finally saw the light as well. Was 5 quarts low and under 3k miles on an oil change. Still losing oil. Dealer says the amount I lose by their consumption test is normal. Losing a quart in a 1k miles isn't normal. That's something wrong.

My wrangler has used oil since I have owned it. Was just at dealership about a pinging noise which he said was normal for the mileage 90,000. Also asked about it consuming oil and he told me 1qt per 800-1000 miles is normal. I personally do not think this is normal.

My 09 Wranger Unlimited X burns a little over a quart every thousand (1000) miles. Dealership even tried added an extra quart and put 5w-30 prior to test. I checked it before I left and they let me leave the lot with it like that.

Motors are junk. Oil disappears without trace and warning. I've owned my 07 JKU for less than 3 years now and I'm on my 4th motor. My JKU is my daily driver and isn't beat on or taken off road.

I see this petition was started three years ago so I'm not sure what is going on at this point but I welcome any help. I've had my jeep for five years and I take such good care of it. I just found out today after jeep doing an oil consumption test that I burned through over a quart in 1000 miles. I am having issues with the extended warrenty company to pay for repairs such as lifters, camshaft, manifold, rear main, etc. this truly is unbelievable that because this motor is crap, we as the purchaser have to eat the cost of repairs. If they do not pay for my repairs, I will be filing a class action against Chrysler and my warrenty company.

I owned a 2007 jeep wrangler and was constantly taking care of the oil. My jeep eventually stopped working all together and I had to sell it. It was my only means of transportation. I loved my jeep very much and hated parting with it. I know the engine block blew with no waning light. I feel it was oil related. Also, I had many recalls on my jeep that I felt was the same recall (as to not fix the problem) cruise control went out. Air bag lights came on and off. I was putting so much money into my jeep on these issues. I also was fixing the death wobble that never went away even after replacing the entire under part of the front end. Please help me get this resolved I want to own another jeep but cant due to my credit being destroyed in order to keep my jeep running.

Jeep had maybe 65,000-70,000 miles when this happened. Didn't even give me a chance to check oil bc the dash oil light came on after the damage was already done.

2011 jeep wrangler. Dealing with out "case manager" and dealership to see how this will be resolved. We need a new engine and our rod bearing is broken. We had no oil , needed to put in 4 quarts. Up to day on our oil change. No oil light, no leakage etc. just stopped after a knocking sound. Told by private party that we need a new engine at a cost of $7,000.00 it has 62, 000 miles. Waiting to hear from jeep

2011 jeep unlimited Sahara. Purchased from dealer with 31,000 miles 12/27/16 only put 4000 miles on it. All ready had it in the shop 1st time O2 sensor one month ago, back in the shop today for wheel sensor. Dealer just happen to do a multi point inspection and it's 2 quarts of oil low. Hum

My 09 jk uses 1 qt of oil every 400 miles or less

I actually blew my engine once already because of this issue. Luckily I was able to get it covered under Warranty by providing proof of services. My warranty is expired now, so I am overly cautious and check the level every 1K miles. Usually have to add at least a quart...

Purchased 2011 Jeep Wrangler @6 months ago for my son. He. And home from school yesterday and engine making a horrible noise. Husband checked oil and nothing st all registered in dipstick. Had oil changed several months ago and is not due for another 3500 miles. No oil light indicator, no oil on ground where he parks it's like it vanished. They said we need new engine for @$7500. Any ideas appreciated!!

I have a 2012 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicón. It has 53000 and I have been asking about 1qt of oil every 500 miles or less. I have no ideal how this jeep consumes that much oil. Something is not right! Chrysler need to out a recall and fix this or pay all owners with this issue.

this 08 wrangler sahara 3.8 is using way to much oil,, chrysler at fault for installing oil control rings incorrectly or of the wrong type,,,HHHMMMMM??? this is expensive and totally unreprehensible to not be hearing back from more jeep owners with this 3.8 problem.

My 2010 Jeep Wrangler stalled this morning after consuming 6 quarts of oil in less than 2000 miles. No oil light warning. My engine is gone.

I have a 2008 rubi and just found it using 1qt of oil in 700 miles I have 76,000 on it.

We are still waiting to see if FCA will do anything. Has anyone had FCA cover any or all of new engine due to this?

We own a 2010 Jeep Rubicon that has been a oil guzzler and a huge disappointment.

My 2008 Wrangler Sahara unlimited has been Burning Oil aggressively since the day I made the purchased.The Jeep only just reached 60000 miles and is so babied. I can not go a week without checking the oil . The undercarriage is dry as a bone. I wonder if OSHA should be notified. When inspected the NOX emissions are off the chart. It has to be HOT! to pass.The dealer kills me with their responses.

Happens every time I get an oil change. I was told by the company that changes the oil that these Jeeps are notorious for always burning oil which is not normal for other cars.

2010 Mountain Edition with 50,000 ml. have used full syn. oil since new. Oil change every 6,000 and 3.8 goes through 1 to2 quarts between oil changes.

I average 3-4 quarts every 3000 miles - Can someone explain how that is "normal oil consumption" I used to work at a Chrysler dealership and I remember doing consumption tests and repairing vehicle that would lose 2-3 quarts between oil changes and get Chrysler support. If I recall correctly excess loss of oil during the 3000 mile interval of 2 Q was excessive and required investigation. They either poorly designed or manufactured an engine and now ok to burn 5-7 Quarts every 6000 miles if you follow the recommended schedule. I don't I do change my oil every 3-4,000 miles and have put in up to 5 quarts in that time frame. Although do I really need to change my oil at the current loss rate or do I keep adding forever. 5Q oil + 3500 Miles = acceptable oil consumption according to dealers and techs. I was told Chrysler wont give assistance on repairs and has made adjustments to acceptable oil consumption amounts as this issue has evolved. Chrylser / Jeep should be embarrassed and they should know - I am a 3 Chrysler home that as my vehicles age and its time to trade them it will not be for another Chrysler unless they stand up and fix their issue.

2000 jeep wrangler have to constantly add oil

2008 Wrangler. bought it at the end of 07 and has always used more oil than usual. As it ages , it uses more between oil changes. It is paid for and don't want to be forced to buy a new one or have a heavy repair bill.

Luckily i found out my engine burns oil. Hopefully not too late before any damage was done.

Went to do an u related maintenance and oil was so low that I had to do an oil change way earlier than I would normally have. I have to go often for top offs now and have to carry oil with me at all times.

Mine uses 2 quarts every 2000 miles. It passes smog and doesn’t smoke or leak.

I purchased a 2008 Jeep Wrangler from Carmax with 44,000 actual miles last June 2016. I have had it only 1 and a half years with 58,704 miles. the oil pump was faulty and has lock up the engine. I bought the vehicle for 23,700.00 and the cost to repair it is 6,867.43. This means that I would have to pay over 31,000.00 for this vehicle just to get it running. I need an attorney to fight for my rights to get this vehicle straightened out.

After no warning lights or indicators I also got the ticking sound which soon turned to knocking followed by jeep shutting down in an intersection. After having a mechanic look it over on the spot I was informed a new motor is needed

And now it looks like cylinder damage. 2007 lemmon.

My 2008 wrangler is using 3 to 4 quarts every 2 weeks with an average daily mileage of 42. Its currently has 99872 miles on it. Its not leaking and the warranty ran out at 94k.

My 2010 Jeep Wrangler comsume 3/4 of synthetic motor oil in a 1038 Miles period. No smoke and no leaking issues.

My 2010 Wrangler has started using oil. 74,000 + miles. I talked with a service writer today and he looked to see if there was a recall. I believe it is the cylinder, however there is no evidence of burning oil.

2011 Jeep Wrangler 3.8L and it now has 40K miles on it. No leaks. Not smoking at all. Have to add oil more than I should. I'm pissed off.

My wife owns a 2007 Jeep Wrangler bought used from dealer less than a year and a half ago. Had a recent oil change in Dec 2017, driven approx 382 miles and started knocking. Bought extended warranty but they won't honor it. Wanted 6 last oil changes, of which we do our own, except for 2 because of cold weather. 116000 miles and they told me I need a new engine. I just found out the 3.8 liter v6 is famous for this but they don't care.

2010 Rubicon, two oil changes ( 6000 miles) ago mechanic let me know there was hardly any oil when then went to drain it, added 3 quarts after 1000 miles now up to checking every couple of days- using about 1 quart per week --- no leaks, seems to be burning. Looks like this is a common problem, recommendation is to replace the engine $$$$

90,000 lite use miles on my 2011 Sport Wrangler, never been off road or abused and it's used 4 quarts since last oil change. Next change not even due yet. Totally unacceptable. These things are WAY over priced.

My 07 JKU has 177000 miles. It takes a dino 10w40 quart every 3000 miles. No Syn oil. Leaks everywhere, valve cover, front main, rear main. Average 50 miles per day min. Unacceptable.

Way too much oil consumption on my 2010 Wrangler Rubicon

2011 JKU Rubicon 144000km. First time ever oil light would flicker on quickly (due to low oil pressure) and off that I didn’t know what was being indicated. Checked dip stick and it was complete dry after 5600km. Change the oil (which less than 1 liter was left) and filter. NOT HAPPY :(

This is an issue in the 2.4L engine. We have the 2019 Cherokee with this issue and it’s stalling causing a huge safety issue
