Coach Gary is a good coach only to the ones that he favors. I know that's some people on the track team are afraid to speak out because they are afraid of what might happen because all the favorites are seniors. It's not fair that the same exact people get to run every week without having to go to practice. I know the "Favorites" aren't going to say anything that's why I am. Some people come to practice every day and they don't get to run. I think it's time for a change. Most people that signed the petition are favorites or were favorites. I don't have time to wait 3 years to be his favorite and run. I have a dream that one day seniors to freshman can join batons and run together and have a fair team a fair coach and fair treatment. It's time for a change its 2016 it's a new year it's time for a new coach #NewYearNewCoach

This unfortunate news comes as a shock to me. I have watched closely as Coach Gary developed my grandson into a quality competitor in track and field. His premature departure is not only a disappointment to me and my family but a loss for the Olympian family as a whole. Being a former (retired) coach myself I recognized the quality in his work and his unique ability to work with and develop students. It would be advantageous to OHS, in my professional opinion, if consideration was given to what this gifted coach brings to OHS and the effort be made to seek his return. This is my humble appeal to OHS and the system: Please Bring Coach Cameron Gary back to Olympian High School. Consider the students who otherwise will be at a loss for dedicated leadership and where or who will they turn to. Just think about it...then do it.

Coach Gary is an excellent coach. After watching the track meets and the practices I had no doubt Olympian High School was in good hands. The track record and the improvement of the athletes confirmed my thoughts. .

I first want to thank Coach for the time he put in with my son new to OHS and new to track he encouraged my son to run and made him a better athlete. He took videos of him just like the other athletes and I'm still not sure why coach was fired in the first place. Just because we don't agree on a certain coaching style doesn't mean it's wrong it just means that coach has his own way and style of doing things and obviously more than half of the kids and parents at least 90% feel you did a great job! Still not sure why he was fired....

Even though I've only participated in Track and Field for one year, I can tell Coach Gary is a good coach. His knowledge about the sport, technique, and the way he motivated all of us was immense. I'm glad that he was our coach and should continue training the students at Olympian High School!

Coach Gary started my career in Track and Field and it would be a shame to see it end because he is unable to Coach me this year.

Mr Gary is an outstanding mentor and coach who I had the pleasure working with at our annual all sport combine. It is a mistake to remove Mr Gary from his coaching position.

To hear that a coach and mentor the caliber of Cameron T Gary was fired is astonishing and shocking at the least. Aside from knowing Mr Gary personally we have known each other professionally for many many years. Mr Gary is an asset and would be an asset to any program on any level at any age group. A closer look at the source of this complaint I highly recommend. In this world today we have an extreme shortage of reliable competent and professional mentors and leaders for our youth. Do not let this one special individual who has touched many young people and young athletes be dismissed. Our young people need all of the assistance and support that they can get. Last year around this time in September I suffered a potentially career stopping injury. I tore my meniscus in my left knee, and damaged a good portion on the cartilage. I underwent surgery to fix it in October. I wasn't able to walk for a week and had a lot of muscle atrophy in my left thigh as well as left calf. As an athlete I was devastated. I mean the one sport I loved the most seemed like a near impossible thing for me to do. I lost hope, confidence, and will power to continue. One day I relieve a phone call from Coach Cameron and he tells me that this is not something I should worry about. It's just another hurdle that I have to overcome. He encouraged me and helped me gain the confidence I needed to continue on. He worked with me never giving up on me an ensuring I never gave up on myself. He pushed me hard and worked me even harder, and help me accomplish to what I believed to be impossible. He did more than what the average coach would have. To make a long story short, I ended up setting a personal record as well as a school record in my event. I even made it to CIF finals. I don't care what has to happen, I just want my coach back! Because he's the best I don't care what anyone says.

Hello Everyone: I see someone (anonymously, I might add) posted my job solicitation from the Coaches Message Board. Please keep in mind that I posted this after I was fired from my position at OHS - and before I knew you had started this petition on my behalf. With that being said, I want YOU to know much I appreciate your support. I also want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all you are doing. I don't know if I will get my job back at OHS. I most certainly hope that I do. If you are willing to fight for me and there is a possibility I can return to OHS then I will NOT accept another position elsewhere. I hope common sense prevails and we are able to find some justice here. I am still totally overwhelmed and deeply humbled by the amazing and heartfelt responses you all wrote. Frankly, it was difficult to read them because they touched me emotionally more deeply than you will ever know. I am far from perfect and have made many mistakes...but the way I coached the kids is not one of them. I cannot make everyone happy. And I certainly am not trying to hurt anyone...even those who are clearly trying to hurt me. I am super excited for OHS's prospects for the future. I think we are on the verge of building something very special here. I hope to be around to see it come to fruition. Thanks again for all you are doing. Coach Gary

Coach Gary was a asset to Olympian High School. My daughter is on the track team and the training she has received from Coach Gary has really improved her sprinting potential.

I don't know much about the sport of track nor know all the details that have come to the decision to release Coach Gary. All that I can mention is that Coach Gary was a great motivator for my son who encouraged my son to achieve his athletic goals and Coach Gary always pushed the team to do better and work well together during the track meets. It is too easy to outweigh all the positive and concentrate on the negative sometimes. I just hope that whatever the outcome may be that the Olympian High School Track athletes are not adversely affected by any rash decisions.

Wow...I have read the comments and I found out like most of you that Coach Cameron had been fired...all I can say is that parents and students need to rally to correct this...you have no idea as to the calliber of coach your school is losing and I am sure he won't me out of a job long...he has coached my niece for many years and has lead her to the National Youth Championship...and she has not competed at the high school level yet. He is the most dedicated and educated coach that I have met. His experience and knowledge in addition to his desire to continue to learn and educated himself speaks volumes... He doesn't just coach the kids, he motivates and inspires them to exceed at higher levels, he helps them learn to trust and believe in their abilities... He is a member of your community so he is not an outsider looking in.. Olympian will never fill the void that will be lost...

As a Coach at OHS for the football team I know and see first hand the impact a coach had on a athlete. A coach can push a athlete to be great and reach goals that where never imagined. A coach can tear a player down to the point that a athlete never wants to participate in a sport again. No coach is perfect and there will always be someone out there trying to bring them down. These are the same individuals who complain about everything but yet never step up. It's always easier to point a finger than it is to get off the bench and help. Coach Gary took my son and in two years took him to the CIF finals and would have went to state but for a devastating injury to a teammate. My son is now running under 50 secs in the 400m. If Gary is not on the Coach you tell me how my son improves this year with a coach who does not know him or worked with him. Coach Gary has my full support. Do not let one or two parents dictate the needs of 100 other OHS athletes.

My son Edward Galloway Jr. was coached to heights that I couldn't have imagined. My son not only broke records but made headlines in the community as well as the county. He received several mentions in the local San Diego Union Tribune, again wouldn't have been possible without the coaching of Coach Gary!!! My son now has colleges interested in his abilities that would not have been without the coaching of Coach Gary!! I don't know why this has happened but Coach Gary is a valuable asset to not only the youth but the community.

Coach Gary brought out the best in my son who was new to track and field. His absence will be a tremendous loss to the Olympian team and the young athletes who've worked so hard under his guidance.
