My kids have been missing school for years for this and I always get a letter home. It is ridiculous that we cant just celebrate our culture.
YES. Do it.
so many other holidays are marked on the calendar but this one is always ignored. equality means celebrating everyone not just some people.
Finally someone said it! Its a huge holiday for our family and we always have to struggle with school attendance. About time we get some respect.
Why is this still an issue in 2016?? Kids should be able to see their grandparents without worrying about missing a test.

Totally agree. Cant believe we are still in school on the biggest day of the year for us. Need a day off to be with family.
