The last few years, De la Salle High School has had very good, useful and convenient OC Transpo school bus routes for the students living all over Ottawa and its outskirts.
This year, because of the major route changes, they decided to take away our 6 buses (2 going East, 2 going South and 2 going West) which were usually full and replaced them with eight 602 buses, all going to Hurdman and back. Many of them are either completely empty and just drive by or approximately only have about 7 students.
Since this french public high school has about 1200 students living all over the capital, routes only coming from Hurdman station is making it very difficult to get to school and back home or even to work. Many more students are being marked as late because it takes them more time to get to school and the buses aren't always reliable, either being late, too early or too full.
This meaning, we need our buses going to Orleans, South Keys and Nepean back. That way, the students would be provided with a better, quicker and safer ride to school and back, specially the new 7th graders. It would also create more room in the original OC Transpo buses since we'd be in our designated buses for our own High School.
Reaching this point has been exhausting but seeing this level of momentum keeps me going. It is clear that I am not the only one frustrated by these route changes. We are going to keep pushing until the city acknowledges how difficult this has made our daily lives.

Literally saw the 602 go by empty yesterday while we were all left waiting at the stop. Waste of money and fuel if you ask me.

It was fine before these changes. Why ruin a system that was actually working for the students in Orleans?

My son is late almost every morning now because of this. Totally ridiculous service.

The new setup is a joke. Hurdman is absolute chaos in the morning and we spend way too much time transferring instead of getting to class. Bring back the direct routes.
