OCT fees are jumping too high for this economic climate

Hello - I am the managing editor of Professionally Speaking magazine. Thank you for the opportunity to comment. By law, the College must provide an official document to inform members of regulatory and other changes that may affect their teaching certificates. Professionally Speaking, which also includes educational news and resources of interest to Ontario’s teaching professionals, is the vehicle we use. In mailing the publication to you directly, we meet our legislated duty to get the information to you personally. On the other hand, visiting our website to see an online version is a voluntary action. Accordingly, we cannot cancel a member’s subscription to the printed version. Professionally Speaking makes every effort to produce an environmentally appropriate publication. We only print with paper stock from responsible sources that is FSC-certified. The magazine also participates in Stewardship Ontario’s Blue Box Recycling Program. In some cases, households may receive multiple copies of the magazine. For those members who live in two-teacher households and would prefer to receive only one copy of the magazine, their request may be sent to [email protected].

Thank you for considering this. An ele tropic version will also allow video clips of interviews for those of us who want more information or are visually impaired.

I would prefer not to receive the hard copy, but access to it digitally would be good.

This is outrageous that this requires a petition. This is saving the environment and cost savings to the organization!

there needs to be an option to opt out of receiving a hard copy. We need to have environmentally responsible leadership in the OCT

My husband and I are both teachers and we certainly don't require two magazines to be shipped and recycled. Allowing for an online option seems the responsible choice moving forward.

I would much prefer reading online and would really like to see us becoming more environmentally caring.
