My son came to Oxy to play football and make great friends while getting an excellent education for his future. Please don't let his passion to play football die. We came to Oxy under the guise the football program was intact. Don't let us down.

It is a travesty that the college has allowed the FB program to atrophy like this. Oxy FB was part and parcel of my Oxy college experience and I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. If the college wants my support then I want theirs - get this fixed so that the next generation of young players can share and enjoy the great experience that is Oxy Football. Go Tigers!

I played there for three years and coached there for three more. Program fell apart when an inept AD fired Coach Widolff for no real reason.

Oxy needs to get it together. This is a WHOLE experience. Sports was a HUGE part of that experience - even when you did now play. What a let down. We expect more!!!

I went to Occidental because I wanted to play baseball. When my baseball career (which wasn't much of a career) ended I still wanted to be involved in sports so I built Tiger Sports Radio. This has been the cornerstone of a dream career. My education at Occidental allowed me to have success in my career. The knowledge I gained, the ability to form an argument, to prepare for a game have all been vital to my success. The education at Occidental deserves that credit. However, none of it happens without the sports programs that were a part of the school.
More importantly, as a parent of a good youth athlete I crave for them to get the Division III experience as Division I sports get more out of control. Now is not the time to run from sports it is a time to embrace them and become a place where students can still have a place to compete while going to school rather than the facade that is taking place in Division I sports.
This is disgraceful and short sighted leadership or lack thereof

It's sad to see the work of so many, who helped build the football program, go to waste. The college is worse off for the loss.

Miss Hoffman and President Vietch need to give the alumni some real answers as to what is going on. If your plans are to turn Occidental into a west coast version of Vassar College...... some of us are not to happy about it.

My son's will not consider Occidental because of the poor sports facilities and team support. These are student athletes with excellent grades, college funds and superior high school and travel ball performance. They say Occidental is like the Ottoman empire; it continues to decline. Their argument is well supported with this most recent evidence that proves stunning negligent management and oversight of the athletic department. On the heels of the security debacle, the urgent need for an administrative overhaul is overbearing. Likely, 2018 will be the year when Occidental's rankings are on the second page of Barrons, US News and World Report, and the other college ranking systems.

OXY Football alum class of 1990, was a proud member of the late 80s Championship years, so sorry to see the state of the current program.
