We, the undersigned, would like to register our great concerns and opposition to the Ski Slope on Bassingbourn Barracks being accessed through the village of Bassingbourn-cum-Kneesworth via Guise Lane. We do this because it would mean, on a conservative basis, 20,000 to 25,000 cars passing through the village annually (40,000 to 50,000 journeys). In view of this and the fact that Bassingbourn Barracks is re-opening in 2019 we would ask that the Club seek to obtain access through the Main Gate of the Barracks on the A1198 again, as this has always been their route to the Slope in the past. We further call upon our local MP, County Councillor and District Councillors to make representations to the Club to this effect and to work with the Club to achieve the reinstatement of the historic access that served the Ski Club perfectly well for decades. For further information and to comment visit keepbassingbourngreen on Facebook and see the ‘Ski Slope’ page.
Please, please no more reasons which would cause regular extra traffic through the village. Recently had to wait 5 minutes to leave my driveway in the High Street due to considerable 2 way traffic and fortunately in forward gear.
