Is it possible that the CAA can stop me using my own airfield on my own farm that has been there for the past 60 years ? ?

Is it possible that the CAA can ever stop me to land on my own farm on my own runway that has been ther for the past 60 years ? ?

I have an airstrip on my farm near Klerksdorp as well as on my farm in Namibia. I cannot operate my farms without being able to land on both of my farms. I will have to stop flying if I cannot land on the farms because the farming operations are my main reason for flying apart from the pleasure of flying close to home.

This is totally unnecessary and has no basis

My dream is to someday fly around Africa. This ma eliminate South Africa from that dream. Governments love to solve problems that do not exist!

I strongly object to the proposed amendments to Part 139.06 2011.

South Africa tourism and governmental agencies: This proposal is nuts! Some little airstrip with a couple flights a day does not need manned firefighting. Thousands of small airports in Canada and US don't have it and do just fine. Not enough fire incidents to justify it. Will close airfields. The flights I made visiting won't be possible. Sounds like a make work, make money adjenda for someone.

This would be extremely detrimental to both communities in rural areas and the NGO's that service them in these hard to reach locations.

We can not allow the CAA to force General Aviation to register all airfields! This is preposterous and can not be accepted.

I work as a flight instructor and as a charter pilot on light aircraft and this proposal will severely limit the scope of airfields available to us for our work. Specifically for charter work, where we operate aircraft like C172,C206,C210,BE58 or similar. The bulk of our work is specific to providing a service to remote areas and to gravel or bush strips. There is a big difference between requiring an airfield to be registered and to have an airfield licensed. I have no objection to the registering of an airfield, but object strongly to the proposed requirement for licensing of such remote airfields. The requirements to license an aerodrome are very onerous and costly and I suspect that the operators/owners of most of the smaller airfields that we currently use will not be in any position to comply. For Example: Some of the airfields we visit do not take much traffic and the requirement for the owner/operator of such an airfield to have fire tenders and medical staff ready will not be at all feasible. Therefore these airfields will no longer be available to our type of operation. This will probably lead to our losing most of our work in these areas. I suggest that the requirement be changed to registration only, and that the requirements for registration allow adhoc flights to operate to such airfields. I trust you will recognise that the CAR139 proposal will have a serious effect on this sector of the industry, which is already under significant financial pressure, and will find a way to amend it accordingly whilst ensuring a sufficient level of safety.

The CAA seems determined to destroy General Aviation! They couldn't even keep the registered ones safe for use...Estcourt, Dundee....the list goes on!

This proposal, if passed, will kill off general aviation is SA, as well as the industries it serves. It is madness.
