To: Planning Department

Stockport MBC

We, the undersigned, object to the planning application by Persimmon Homes on land off Midland Road, for the following reasons:

Historical contaminated land (asbestos, heavy metals, lead, arsenic, cadmium, hydrocarbons, mercury most in elevated levels) to be remediated in an inadequate and unsafe fashion posing a risk to health if disturbed.

o Reprofiling already waterlogged land

o Potentially contaminated dust drifting in prevailing winds

o Already congested roads

o 4 years of works traffic in a family neighbourhood – ie elderly residents, local school children routes to school etc

o Heavy demands on local amenities – schools, doctors, dentist, hospitals with the addition of over 200 new homes

o Too many developments on historically contaminated land which have led to housing problems e.g. school in Reddish

o Loss of privacy and visual amenity

o Concerns around methane venting system around the development on the boundaries of existing gardens

o The proposed leachate ditch and pumping system – situated dangerously

o Stockpiling of top soil forcing leachate sideways into exiting gardens

The viability assessment submitted by Persimmon needs to be independently validated. There are many assumption s that need to be challenged. Why has the developer not been asked for an education contribution?

I have serious concerns regarding the lad that would be excavated and the harmful debris!! Namely Asbestos!!!! That along with the shear scale of the development and the effect on schools and roads in he area.

My retired parents live right at the bottom of the road next to the proposed works entrance and the increased Traffic and airborne pollution is a danger to their health and the health of the local population. This is greed over public safety and totally unacceptable

As someone who works in estate agency the fact they plan to build properties on contaminated land is absolutely ridiculous. This planning application should NOT be approved!!!

Each time any investigations have been done on this site, the stench reaching our house from it is enough to keep you indoors. This is surely an indication as to why this application should be rejected. I hope that common sense prevails!

Building on this land is an absolute joke with all the health and environmental risks to the surrounding residents and the impact on the local recourses like Doctors, schools, roads. These are already under pressure without adding another 200+ homes!

this is to have the residents of midland road and the surrounding roads kept in the picture about the proposed new houses on the tip,. I have been fighting this for 50 years since i moved into my home in midland road..
