Objection against planning application ref: NP5/59/752

All towns have addicts and alcoholics living in them. An addictions clinic will not prevent tourists coming. Over the years I have seen my fair share of violence contributed to by alcohol and drugs. Clinics such as these are attended by people who wish to get well, not people who wish to cause trouble. It may be on the interests of Blaenau to have a clinic such as this which will hopefully educate people around the effects of drugs. If the community grows and prospers there is a very good chance of drug and alcohol abuse increasing as more money comes in. Addiction is a mental illness and a community that is increasing in size and hopefully financially DO need a facility like this. Some people posting comments I'm sure will have some experience around the kind of devastation addiction of any kind can cause. You don't really know what this clinic may bring to Blaenau, I live somewhere where drugs are rife, addiction centres don't cause an area to get worse, it gives people somewhere to go for help.with regards to 7 pubs being within walking distance this makes no difference whatsoever. People in recovery are there because they want to be, if you want to drink or use you're going to find it whether your next door to a pub or 20 miles away.

our town is addapting to the fact that we have no hospital, will have no Dr's, and education is key...as the 3rd most populated town in north wales, we never said we we're perfect but we don't deserve this.........we're trying to build a future for our children, not destroy it.

They close the hospital and open a rehabilitation centre, and not for the people of Blaenau!!!! Makes no sense!!!

its a disgrace, why chose blaenau ffestiniog for such a facilitie, rhyl has a hospital at its door step actually 2 hospitals at ita door step with the royal alexandra, they have plenty of places in between villages and towns their, why not use some of rhyls run down buildings, theirs plenty there, ive lived in rhyl and can tell you what these people are like, they have no respect for them selfs let alone others, some are seriously dangerous, I refuse to let my children grow up with such people running riot in such a small and wonderful place as blaenau ffestiniog, people have worked hard to and alot of money has been spent on trying to better blaenau ffestiniog, it simply would not fit in in this erea go elsewere because we dont want it here.

We should not be the dumping ground for other councils problems.

I believe that the organisation behind this application has not researched enough into the implication this type of centre would have on the Blaenau Ffestiniog area as well as the additional problems it could cause the vulnerable users that would use the facility. Blaenau Ffestiniog is a town which has seen many problems over the years mostly resulting from unemployment following the decline of the slate industry. Thankfully, we have recently seen an improvement in our town; with the opening of two major new tourist attractions and a revamp of the town centre. This in turn has increased the attractiveness of the town to visitors from outside the area subsequently having a positive effect on local economy. What effect would this centre have on perspective visitors’ perception of Blaenau Ffestiniog as a holiday destination? I also question the reasoning behind choosing a site to rehabilitate people that have found themselves addicted to alcohol or drugs in an area that has, unfortunately, problems of its own regarding the use of drugs as well as 7 drinking establishments within reasonable walking distance. Surely this is not providing the users of this centre a fair chance to turn their lives around? There will always be individuals that will take advantage of others’ vulnerability but surely the chances of this is significantly higher if this centre is placed only 1 mile outside a town. Another worry is, if one of the users of the centre were to require immediate medical assistance, say for example as a result of a relapse or an accidental overdose of prescribed medication, the closest hospital that could deal with this type of emergency is approximately an hour away. I imagine that the price of this particular property has played a significant part in it being chosen as a site for the centre. But surely other factors need to be taken into consideration? I strongly oppose this application on the basis that I believe it will have no positive impact whatsoever on th

Although I havent lived in Blaenau for many years, I still feel that Blaenau is my Home. I have Family and Friends that live in Blaenau Ffestiniog so I have signed this in Support of them. I now Live in a Town that Drugs and Violence is bad, and there is alot of help for "Troubled People" but sadly most of them don't want help. It would be devastating for not only the people of the Town but for the Town its self, especially when the Town is trying to attract more Tourists.
