I would not have purchased my home if this project had already existed. I knew the lot was zoned commercial and expected that some day a business would go in there. A business that would be closed at night and whose customers and employees would not encroach into our residential community. Apartment buildings in general, let alone low income projects bring more crime, noise, traffic, and neighborhood blight. I am totally against this project.

This is not the right fit for the city of star at this time. We do not have the means to support a low income apartment complex, bring other business like resturaunts and grocery shopping first.

Gary Smith's analysis is right on the mark. Our City already has more than its share of low income families that impact our schools, police, and Star Outreach, which we consistently support. The distance to shopping, medical care, and other life necessities precludes the development of more low income housing. Additionally, the negative impact on property values that would occur in the adjoining neighborhoods of Pinewood Lakes and Saddlebrook are unacceptable. This is a bad idea and should be rejected.

This project will have an impact of the safety and welfare of Pinewood Lakes and Star. We are already a depressed community with 100s of families relying on Star Outreach for help. Over 50% of our kids in Star Elementary are on the lunch assistance program and our school is using trailers because of over crowding. The school district just passed a school levy and now wants more. The will impact the welfare of many of our working poor already in Star plus raising taxes on seniors who are on fixed incomes. This project will hurt the welfare and health of our community. Moving more people who are unable to commute to work because of the lack of mass transit and no jobs here in Star is just adding and even bigger burden on our already depressed community. I am opposed to this project and say NO.

we had to move out of a neighborhood because of low income
people moving in. I had a car stolen and a truck stolen plus gang language all over our house and cars.
