Oakdale Canadian Open Vote
Oakdale Golf and Country Club is a family club and accordingly many families have several individuals who are Oakdale members (for example, a husband and wife) but only one of those members is an Oakdale shareholder. In addition, Oakdale has a class of shares that may be transferred to others by former members and consequently there are now many Oakdale shareholders who are not members of the club.
We the undersigned MEMBERS of Oakdale Golf and Country Club hereby petition our Board of Directors to hold a MEMBER vote, as opposed to a SHAREHOLDER vote. The Board of Directors need to understand the TRUE FEELING OF THE MEMBERS of the club regarding the holding of the 2nd Canadian Open at Oakdale.
It was the SHAREHOLDERS who voted regarding the 1st Canadian Open, which meant that many MEMBERS were not allowed to express their views. It is the MEMBERS, however, and not the SHAREHOLDERS, who are affected by holding a Canadian Open at Oakdale.
We understand the decision whether to go ahead with the 2nd Canadian Open is solely a Board decision, but before the Board makes its decision, we the undersigned MEMBERS strongly request that if the Board wishes to act responsibly and reasonably, they should hold a MEMBER vote to ascertain and take into consideration the views of the club’s MEMBERS.
