The money spent doing this is absurd. I agree we need nature trails and we need to preserve areas for people to have walk and ride, but this is over the top!! I agree with Ms. Clinton in the fact that it is not safe.

The Supreme court ruled in 2014 that taking the railbeds on people's properties is a bad decision and ruled in favor of the homeowner to get his land back. It was based on the Railroad Act of 1875 which is the same exact act that is on the Osteen Maytown Road. Because it is so expensive to hire a lawyer to fight this the county is ignoring the Supreme Court ruling and is bullying the people that are paying their paychecks so they can get a trail the board members are never going to use and only want it for their own pride.

Thank God someone cared enough to help me stop this insanity. Thank you so much. I hope everyone will sign this and ask to stop this. There's also a private airport that MUST fly over the abandoned railroad here too because one of them actually fell right in my backyard. True, that was printed with a photo in the News Journal. This is an extremely unsafe area to put a trail. Thank you all for taking time to sign this.

Agreed! This is a project for walking & biking on. Who in their right minds would drive way out there to park then walk a trail in densely wooded areas all the way to Osteen? It's certainly not safe by any means. Snakes, hunters, home & a shooting range business that should be kept private! We didn't pay property taxes all our lives to have a bike path on our properties! There was already a rape to a homeowner that used this abandoned railroad to get to her house! There was a child molester that lived at a barpit along this abandoned railroad. Millions of dollars was spent on Maglev several years ago that wasted our tax money too. It went NOWHERE and is now ANOTHER eyesore.
Reroute the trail to a safer area people! One more thing, look up how many gophers & other protected animals live along that area. Then ask what your taxes will cost you to move just ONE OF THEM!
WHEN/IF this happens, who's going to police it with your money? There's NOT A police department in Oak Hill. A sheriff can take an hour getting out here. How's that for safety?
