The adjunct faculty must be compensated and respected for being the professionals we are. We care deeply about our students and their future, and spend an enormous amount of uncompensated time in making sure our students receive a quality education and professional advice. NYIT must recognize our value and our contributions to our students and to the school. Adequate compensation shows respect for our talents and efforts. The current compensation indicates a serious lack of respect.

Each year I enjoy the rich experience of working with students, as a group and one-on-one. I use class time to determine their future career needs/wants, then pair those needs/wants with the current industry practices. Research, prep time, and real-world adaptation (exercises) are necessary to properly bestow tech/design skills upon students. To ensure they receive a quality education and a competitive edge in their future fields, considerable time and effort outside of class time is also required. It is imperative to compensate adjuncts financially, along with other resource backing (software and learning tool subscriptions, etc.) to ensure both the adjunct and the student body deliver fine bodies of work, maintain stellar competency, and quality of life/education. When faculty and students recognize quality investment in persons and their needs, the outcome of the mission/vision/goals exceed expectation, and the reputation of the school builds a healthy study body plus lauded works...
