The intent of this petition is to open unfettered crossbow hunting during regular bow season. In NY many bow hunters would like to continue to bow hunt but cannot because physical ailments will no longer allow them to participate with a compound bow. The use of a crossbow would allow them to keep in the hunt. NY did temporarily pass crossbow hunting during rifle/shotgun season. However, this was unsafe and a failure. Why would you want people to go afield in camouflage, with a bow, during gun season? Again, the intent of this petition is to open unfettered crossbow hunting during regular bow season.
