I expect far better from the Times than shoddy reporting such as this. A moment's fact checking would dispel it, but neither the reporter nor editor bothered to do so.

Bats are fun! We have a bat house & look forward to their comings & goings.

Dogs are vaccinated. Wildlife are not. Rabies varies by county and neighborhood. Where I’ve lived it is mostly been in skunk or raccoon populations. Check facts.
