Teachers and Families negatively impacted by the NW District Parking Plan
We are teachers, parents, and residents of NW Portland and will be negatively impacted if the NW District Parking Plan Plan (resolution No. 36744) passes. Passing this resolution could:
-reduce parent involvement (volunteering and chaperoning) in school events due to a lack of all-day parking options
-increase teacher attrition due to limited parking permits and unrealistic commute times on public transportation
-create child safety concerns due to double parking and/or having to park several blocks away from the school for pick-up and drop-off
The NW District Parking Plan DOES NOT solve the current problems with parking in the NW district, nor does it address the needs of all of the stakeholders. Please support our children, teachers, and families and vote no on the NW District Parking Plan.
The stories coming in from teachers about the daily struggle to reach their classrooms are sobering. These accounts confirm that our concerns about instructor retention and student safety are not theoretical problems but real pressures on our community. I am currently working to ensure these specific experiences are presented clearly to the commissioners before they cast their votes.

Ridiculous idea. You guys are just trying to squeeze more money out of people who actually serve this community.

dropping my kid off is already a nightmare. making us walk extra blocks with toddlers and backpacks is not safe especially when it rains.

Teachers already deal with enough. Giving them parking tickets for working at our schools is just wrong.
