- To do a reflection during CP5 & CP6, but to only have a 'PASS' or 'FAIL' grade awarded. You believe that it should not be 30% weighting of our placement grades.
- To alter the safe medicate exam retake to an earlier date. Proposed as post CP5 and pre CP6.
- To have our views listened to regarding OSCE LSPs

I have spent hours reading through your experiences with the current placement grading and exam scheduling. The frustration you shared mirrors my own struggle during these clinical rotations. We are compiling these accounts to present a clear case for why these policies must be adjusted before the next term begins.

Seeing this momentum grow reminds me of those long library nights spent worrying about my own placement grades. Your willingness to speak up proves that we finally have the group strength to demand a fair process for everyone in this cohort.

I too have felt a significant change in the University's attitude and performance with students. Administration has been terrible! I still don't have the correct exam timetable. My link lecturer has not been supportive. I don't think it's fair to throw so many assignments on students whilst they are on placement. It is extremely difficult. I think these reflections should be discussed before placement but set after placement so that the students have an idea what to reflect on in placement. Placement is emotionally and physically exhausting. Making such a drastic change is unfair on the students.
I feel like this course allows us to get graded on both the physical and academic aspects which is why we have placements and gives those the chance who aren’t exactly perfect in academic work to show off their potential and try and lift their overall grade a little bit. By mixing the grades together it doesn’t give those people a chance which is unfair because personally I am not brilliant at writing essays but have always come out with 90’s on placement and that’s helped me lift my grades. Not everyone is brilliant with assignments and that’s okay because nursing is about care, commitment, compassion etc. And we show these things through communication, and actual practice and not through writing.
The graded reflection is extremely poor in our final year, this should have been started in year one. The Osce was awful, some students with LSP did not get treated fairly and did not get the time that they was allocated.
The reflection needs to be scrapped. I was one who never got the extra time in the OSCE. Although I passsed, I was still at an disadvantage as I left unsure of how I had done because I didn't have time to check my SBAR. Those who have failed the safe medicate will now have to wait a ridiculous amount to resit and my understanding is that they will not qualify at the same time because of when the resits have been scheduled? I find that unacceptable, unfair and puts those students at a disadvantage.
I strongly believe that the university are failing to listen to the students concerns, on top of the multiple issues that been present this academic year and for me, the addition of a graded reflection, during our final placements is the final straw!! We have had zero constructive feedback on our reflections up to this point and rather shockingly, we are not even afforded academic supervision, in accordance with ALL other summative academic submissions. Completely unacceptable!!

I 100% agree with everyone’s comments. I am one of the people who really really struggles with essay writing and rely on placement to show my true abilities. I do not feel supported what so ever. In first year I was struggling to understand PCPP and I was asking a lot of questions. I was actually told off for saying ‘I am confused’. Within second year I still do not feel supported or happy uni have changed our time tables countless times ( sometimes even missing child field off all together ). It is just so unorganised there is no communication at all ! I have jobs to juggle so the changes really do not make things any easier.

I always do well in practice but struggle to write academically. I can reflect mentally but struggle to put it into words but will therefore be penalised for this. I find this very unfair. It is a practical module and it should remain that. Ultimately my patients only care if I can nurse them with care and compassion not that I can write a reflective piece.
