Nurse-led cosmetic clinics’ authority to obtain and possess stock of cosmetic medicines

I’m against doctors having to be in nurse led clinics. We are more than capable

Ive been extremely happy with the nurse-led clinics for my injectable services. The clinics they operate from are extremely sanitised and the nurse is able to provide ongoing personalised service as opposed to attending ‘doctor-led’ clinics who farm you out to all different nurse practitioners they have working for them. In my experience, the ‘doctor-led’ clinics are overpriced and are not ‘hands-on’ to assist anyway. A registered nurse, who has her own practice is more motivated to ensure she provides the best service available so as to not jeopardize her business. What better incentive than to ensure her skill set is regularly up to date with ongoing professional development?

Nurses are at the forefront of patient care. We endure the medication is safe and appropriate for patients and conduct the thorough consultation prior to dispensing medication and this is allowed in many fields and the aesthetics industry should be no different.

This will affect me directly, it will ruin my business and affect my livelihood. I won't be able to provide for my daughter.

This will greatly affect access and quality of life provided by cosmetic injectables. People who receive these treatments have improved symptoms of anxiety and depression (yes there is evidence regarding this) and can be out of pain for a significant amount of time. Majority of cosmetic injectors in this country are nurses and they are continuously under the microscope. Harsh regulations do not protect people, they make the general public more likely to access unsafe and unlicensed treatments as an alternative.

While I am sure these regulations have been implemented with the best intentions to improve patients safety the fact is they don’t improve patient safety at all nor do they improve the economy. These regulations enforced will see thousands of businesses closing and directly impact the livelyhood and mental health of registered nurses currently offering safe treatments throughout their businesses to consumers.

Please reconsider these suggestions, there are so many of us who have invested everything into our careers and work with patient safety as our utmost priority
