As an Anguillian, I am very surprised and quite disappointed by the proposed tax. The timing could not be worse. A tax at this time is short-sighted and will further damage a recovering People and struggling economy. Strapping the businesses with this additional burden may drive many out of business. Perhaps incentivise businesses with tax breaks or credits; allow for some recovery, which will ultimately lead to economic stimulation. May be a slower process, however, it won't be damaging. When other governments are assisting their citizens with support during this pandemic, Anguilla is proposing the opposite? Shocked about the two additional votes; stacking the deck?
Blatant disregard for democracy. Fraudulent. Shameful.

Unelected members of the house should never have the ability to vote on matters of such importance unless there is a tie in the house of assembly. The will of the people through its elected representatives has been denied

This is not a good tax for Anguilla right now. Business activity is slow on the island. We are not ready for this tax. Taxes should be equitable, but GST is not an equitable tax for Anguillians. Therefore, GST should not be implemented in Anguilla next year.

GST is not suitable for a small population as Anguilla. It will hinder development and growth. The main issues within the government departments in regards to excessive spending should be addressed first.

This GST bill does nothing for the health of our Island nation. Anguilla is not a full fledged corporate entity and its current infrastructure is not robust to accommodate such a short or long term exercise on its fragile economic population. There are no benefits here to be gained with this bill...only risks. At the forefront of the British mentality is the effective managent of risks. Do not force on the people of Anguilla unnecessary risks to their livelihood....No to GST...
