NR103 Prof Edwards Jan 2026 Petition
We, the students of NR-103, are submitting this petition to raise serious concerns about ongoing communication issues, lack of academic feedback, and how student inquiries have been handled by Professor Edwards. We also have email records and receipts that document and support all of the claims outlined below.
Since Week 1 of this course, many students have sent emails asking for clarification, academic support, and feedback on assignments. These emails have gone unanswered for long periods of time. Several students followed up multiple times and still did not get any response. This has left a lot of us confused about assignment expectations, grading, and how to improve our work.
Many students personally asked for feedback on a paper and sent multiple follow-up emails over several weeks. No response or explanation was given, and nothing was mentioned in class either. Because of this, students were left without any guidance on what was wrong with their work or how to improve future assignments.
After weeks of no response, when the students followed up again about academic feedback, Professor Edwards replied by saying she would report the students for professional misconduct and referenced academic integrity and professionalism. Instead of answering the academic questions or giving feedback, the situation was escalated. This discouraged students from asking for help or clarification and made people afraid to even email the instructor.
We were also told to use APA format for assignments, but multiple students had questions about how to properly use this format. When students asked for clarification or help, we were told not to ask questions about it. This left students confused about expectations and afraid of losing points for formatting issues they were not allowed to ask about.
There was also an error regarding a due date that affected a many students’ submission. When the students reached out for help, Professor Edwards told them to submit a ticket to IT and said it was not her job to handle the issue. This response provided no academic support or guidance and placed the responsibility entirely on the student for a problem they did not cause.
We understand that instructors may take 24–48 or even 72 hours to respond to emails, and that’s fine. But weeks with no communication at all, especially about academic feedback, is not okay and makes it hard for us to succeed in this course. Clear communication, reasonable support, and constructive feedback are basic expectations in a class like this.
The ongoing lack of responses, no feedback on assignments, being told not to ask questions about APA format, the threat of misconduct reporting, and being redirected to IT for academic issues have created a learning environment where students feel unsupported, confused, and hesitant to communicate.
We were also not given class time to clearly explain assignments or go over expectations in a coherent way. Assignments were posted with limited direction, and questions about instructions were discouraged rather than addressed. This has made it difficult for students to understand what is expected of them and how their work will be graded. Without clear explanations or opportunities to ask questions, students are left guessing and risk losing points for misunderstandings that could have easily been clarified.
On January 16, 2026, Professor Edwards sent an email instructing students not to ask questions during scheduled class time and stating that class time should not be used to address questions that could be resolved by reviewing modules or posted materials. Students were told to use the Canvas Q&A forum instead and that asking questions during class disrupts the learning environment. This message discouraged students from asking legitimate academic questions and directly contradicts the purpose of having live class sessions for instruction and clarification.
We are submitting this petition to document these issues and request immediate administrative intervention. We expect:
• Reasonable response times to student emails
• Clear written feedback on assignments explaining grades
• Professional and respectful communication
• A fair way to address academic concerns without intimidation
• Academic integrity and professionalism to be applied fairly to both students and faculty
• Clear guidance on APA format and assignment expectations
These issues are affecting our grades, stress levels, and our ability to do well in this course. We are serious about fixing this and making sure students in NR-103 get the academic support, communication standards, and professional treatment we’re supposed to get.
We respectfully request that the administration investigate this situation and take appropriate action to restore fair communication, transparency, accountability, and academic integrity in this course.
