We are one of the lucky families to have the waiver. I can’t imagine not having this important support for our son and family. Please consider adding a minimum of additional 125 new waivers. This is the least the State of Georgia should be funding when there are over 6,000+ on waiting lists. What do we say as a society when we don’t take care of the most vulnerable- children and adults with disabilities?

Over 6,000 disabled Georgians have applied for, and been deemed in IMMEDIATE NEED this waver. The GA DBHDD decided they qualify for this waiver. But, they've been put on a waiting list! Some have been on this list for 15 years, with only their aging parents to care for them. PLEASE HELP THESE 6, 000+ CITIZENS IN DESPERATE NEED. Allocate funds for some of these 6,000+ waivers (AT LEAST) to be granted!

My son has been on the wait list for the waiver for 12years now. It is imperative you open more slots each year rather than reduce them.

Please add NOW COMP waivers back in the budget. My son is on Medicaid through Katie Beckett. He has a rare syndrome that delays his development. He is one of the thousands of people waiting for help from the state. When he turns 18, he will be able to live independently with a little help—and that’s why the NOW and COMP waivers are so important. My son works so hard to be like everyone else, but his challenges will always make him vulnerable. Please don’t send people like my son back to institutions or nursing homes, when they have so much more potential...to live and be a part of our community...as he dreams of doing!

Elijah is currently on the waiting list and I have not been able to locate any resources in our county or near by counties that provide services for adolescents with his disability. This is very frustrating and affects our quality of life.

Effingham county -Moved here 3 months ago. Autistic, PTSD, Echololia, MPD, ADHD. Rides bus restrained for 1 35 min each way starting at 635 am, school has no sensory room or playground, the community has no sensory safe places to carry her as she eloped. We have no funding for a therapeutic counselor onsite and zero music in the curriculum due to budget as well. We can't alter her uniform with sensory fabrics/beads because its against policy and she has increased foul language/gestures since her school is in se building with "alternative school kids."

Casey and Ryan are 15 and 14 year old boys with autism. Both are rapidly approaching adulthood and will need continued behavior support and job training specific for young adults on the spectrum. Both boys are on the NOW/COMP wait-list and will likely remain there unless more funds are released.

I am 61 y.o. and my son Evan is 20 y.o., has a Traumatic Brain Injury, is nonverbal and we bathe, dress, shave and toilet him every day and he is about to age out of HIgh School. Over time it will BREAK us financially to keep him in a day program and a group home after we die. We and 1000’s of others like us need a hand. Please fund 3000 NOWCOMP Waivers for the 7000 waiting for help.
