Move Voting out of Hanover Township Schools

1 Signature Goal: 200

Voting in the June primary and November general election currently takes place in the five public schools in Hanover Township, among other locations. All five schools (Salem Drive School, Bee Meadow School, Mountview Road School, Memorial Junior School, and Whippany Park High School) are in session while voting takes place (except on Election Day in a presidential election year). On these primary and election days, the schools' doors are open to the public from 6am to 8pm. This poses an unnecessary risk to the children of Hanover Township, as well as faculty and staff at our public schools. In order to enhance the safety of the students, faculty, and staff of our public schools, I respectfully request that the Morris County Board of Elections reassign the polling places for Districts 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, and 8 to alternate locations, where children, faculty, and staff are not required to be present.
