Vote No on Bankhead Transfer Station Settlement
**UPDATE: The Commission meeting to vote on the proposed settlement has been changed to March 19, 2013 at 9 am.**
The Bankhead “TRASH” Transfer Station has raised its ugly head again and has found its way back on the Cobb County Commission agenda for February 19, 2013 to be approved to accept 150,000 tons of household waste per year in our community. As you may recall, the commission voted unanimously, with one abstention, last summer to deny BTS's zoning and land use applications. The company’s attorney appealed the decision. In Cobb County, all filed cases are required to go to mediation. The mediation of this case took place in December 2012 and the county agreed to settle this matter by essentially allowing the Bankhead Transfer Station to bring trash back to our community. Please sign our on-line petition asking Cobb County Commissioners to reject this settlement offer and to vote no to allowing BTS to accept municipal trash in our community.
