We the undersigned oppose being annexed into West Lafayette. By and large, we like our current fire,police, water, sewer and trash service and we certainly do not need our taxes increased by up to $730 per year for indiscernible returns. We don't want firefighters who are MUCH further away and ill-equipped to fight fires in a suburban setting. We don't want to pay more taxes to be part of the city when we can't send our kids to the acclaimed city schools. We don't want to be subjected to a host of new laws and codes we had no hand in making that will infringe on our property rights. And we certainly don't like that the city has moved to within one vote of making this happen without consulting us in advance.
