Spirit of I’On LLC has filed for an off-premise retail liquor license in the space in I’on Square that was Lavender Hill Designs. This is different than an on-premise "by the drink” license like the rest of the establishments serving liquor in I’on Square - this enables them to operate as a full liquor store.

The type of businesses that run in I’On Square impact the community and neighborhood in a significant manner as far as additional parking congestion, increased short-term traffic, and overall safety concerns, and need residential consideration.

Unfortunately, the protest process requires you to attend court in Columbia if you formally file with the SC Dept of Revenue. However, those of us who are planning to attend can take a formal signed petition showing that we have support of the neighborhood against granting this license.

We have already sent the protest document to slow the process, but now we need the neighborhood support to show that we don't want this kind of business in I'On Square. It has been noted that it is their hope it will become the "go to" liquor store for ALL the neighborhoods along Mathis Ferry Rd.
