Why should Long be considered for this advisory board when the voters who know him clearly rejected him recently?

Are you kidding me? This guy spent years trying to hide everything from the public. He is the last person who should be anywhere near an open government board.

I believe that we should have individuals whose actions convey a true belief in open and clear communication with taxpayers! Having seen Don Long as Chairman of the Sumner County School Board, I have reservations as to his core belief in those concepts. I would strongly disapprove of Mr. Long being a part of this group. Thank you.

Backroom deals need to be a thing of the past! Open public records policies are freedom of information. Is this not an act of law? The people are tired of watching the disrespecting politicians who are supposed to respresent their employers We the people waste our money on things that just aren't good for the country as a whole. This needs to be the foundational rock upon which we are built upon. We all need to pledge that we will not rest until things are made right and the sludge of the earth is washed out to sea never to return again!

Don Long should not be in this position. He is too biased toward the School Board and in my opinion it would be a terrible mistake.

Sumner County Board of education has the most restrictive Public Records Policy in Tennessee. As a result, a law suit has been filed challenging its restrictions of the Tennessee Public Record Act. According to the Tennessean article, “Ex-school board chief picked for open government group”, Long said “I strongly believe the public and media should have access to information; it shouldn’t be overly burdensome or restrictive for anybody.” However, while Chairman on the School Board, Don Long had a golden opportunity to challenge such a restrictive open records policy but failed to do so. Also, Don Long received a vote of “no confidence” by the majority of citizens who rejected him and removed him via the ballot box as a member of the Sumner County School Board. At the city level, Don Long has been engaging in wasteful spending of our hard earned tax dollars that the State Comptrollers’ office should be looking into. Please click on this link to learn more http://www.everythinghendersonville.com/articles/article412.aspx In my opinion, and based on my personal review of reams of public records, it’s a travesty to even consider Don Long as a new member of the Advisory Committee on Open Government.
