Not Cool, Not Funny! Zero Tolerance on Cyberbullying
"Not Cool, Not Funny!: Zero Tolerance on Cyberbullying" is a grassroots movement committed to tackling the widespread problem of cyberbullying in today's digital era. Like many others, we witness the harmful impact of cyberbullying on a daily basis.
Every day, someone, somewhere is suffering from online torment. These personal experiences have made it clear to us that there is an urgent need for comprehensive policies to combat this increasing threat.
Cyberbullying is not solely an individual issue; it is a societal problem that demands collective action. According to DoSomething.org, nearly 43% of children have experienced online bullying, with 1 in 4 enduring it repeatedly. However, only about 1 in 10 victims will report their abuse to a parent or trusted adult.
Our current policies are inadequate in safeguarding our children and adults from this hidden danger. We require stronger regulations that hold perpetrators accountable and offer support for victims.
We urge policymakers at all levels - local, state, and national - to implement thorough cyberbullying policies that encompass strict consequences for offenders and resources for victims. These policies should be developed in consultation with experts in psychology, law enforcement, education, and technology who grasp the complexities of this issue.
