A high number of people who try yoga as a new activity are looking for something that improves their lives - they may not use all that yoga offers at first and may need aspects more at different times in their lives but they should be able to experience it safely.

It depends very much on how you define religion. You have referenced the HathaPradipika. Here is an interesting quote:
“Salutations to Sri Ganesha
Now Hatha-Pradipika is being written
I bow to Sri Adinath - Lord Shiva, who propagated the wisdom of hatha yoga,
which is regarded as a ladder to reach the highest state of raja-yoga”

Absolutely support this 100%, NOS are a real step forward and will assist in increasing standards across the board. It will also ensure that the more ropey training schools either have to up their game or close. Its a win win situation for the individual wishing to embark on a yoga teacher training course.

I have been doing Hatha yoga for nearly 20yrs. It is not a religion more a way of being in touch with your self holistically.
