This would be such a good commuter option if it was back up and running.

Of course we need an all weather option at Northcote. Doesn’t make sense to do a half temporary patch up job. And have buses around the local streets and even Onewa Rd that can pick up passengers and drop off to the ferry. People can then choose to go to the city and onwards to half moon bay etc.

Seems the definition of insanity, for a council looking to get people out of their cars, not to reinvest and maintain in alternative forms of transport, especially one so crucial in moving people across the harbour. With Skypath confirmed, the ferry would be a no-brainer for aucklanders and tourists alike to be able to walk/bike across the bridge and ferry back to the city at their leisure. If Auckland is to call itself the 'city of sails', we should maintain our marine transport routes lest we become the 'city of broken wharves and misplaced cycleways'.

Totally agree. Our water is such an under utilised resource when it comes to transport!

A necessity for road congestion and poor north shore public transport.

Council need to listen to the people and serve the people. Not dictate. We deserve better than this.

It’s disappointing that the wharf got into the bad state of repair in the first place. Yes definitely invest in an all weather wharf so Point Peops can use the ferry rather than contesting roads. While you’re at it get the Beach Haven ferry running more so it’s useable for commuters and at weekends to the Hobsonville market and add Island Bay wharf to the service.

We need the upgrade to the ferry wharf at Northcote. It is imperative to the local transport and growing up as a child was very iconic.

So many other harbour cities around the world have fantastic water transport. This will provide another alternative to the city commute, and if the scheduling and frequency of ferries is improved then it would be a realistic alternative on evenings and weekends as well. And it has to be an all-weather option. Ferries were cancelled too often due to unfavourable weather.
