The Board of Auckland Transport (AT) will decide what to do with the wharf this November, and I’m asking you to sign this petition calling on AT to invest in an all-weather ferry wharf upgrade at Northcote Point.
RECENT UPDATE*
AT have released the options they will chose from:
- Close the facility permanently
- Close the facility temporarily, pending the construction of SeaPath and SkyPath, then undertake any repairs or improvements in association with those projects
- Repair the wharf
- Build a new, all-weather facility
Recently the Northcote Point Ferry Wharf has been closed due to some structural damage to the wharf. AT has analysed the various options and broadly speaking will either repair the wharf to its normal state or invest in a new all-weather wharf to ensure consistency of service throughout the year.
I believe there’s huge potential for ferries to provide a more viable transport option for Northcote residents and reduce congestion on our roads. Residents in Northcote have told me loud and clear that a key barrier to them accessing the Northcote Point Ferry is a lack of consistent service, due to the current positioning of the wharf. Upgrading and slightly repositioning the wharf will allow ferries to consistently dock at the terminal, providing a more reliable service well into the future.
By signing this petition, you will send a strong message to Auckland Transport that you want more investment in our ferries and that you want a more consistent and reliable service at Northcote Point. As your local MP, I will present this petition to AT along with a strong business case for why the all-weather upgrade should go ahead.

Some of the city's biggest rate payers in Northcote Point. Very few AT options in our community. We should be getting something for the huge wad of cash this electorate feeds into the Auckland council coffers!! Fix Northcote Point wharf AT.
The wharf needs to be rebuilt without delay - it provides a key link to the city from Northcote, especially following all the work that has been done with the cycleway. It is a key part of the transport infrastructure to get more cars off our roads.
I am surprised that AT would even consider closing such a useful public transport option, and one that in the scheme of many of their new projects foisted on the local community is high-use and relatively low cost.
we live at end of princes st. ever day I am stopped by visitors disappointed at lack of wharf. Fullers would have usage figures. it would be interesting to know how many passengers they carry, which translates to cars off the roads.
I am an 80+ year old who lives near the wharf and travels to the city and back at least 20 times a week. Without the ferry service this becomes extremely difficult for me. No ferry at all is really bad for me, an unreliable ferry (due to weather) is almost as problematic
we are retired and rely on this to get out to the city. driving more difficult with age and increased traffic.
I appreciate there are financials involved but surely we need to maintain, improve and add options - not remove them and wind up adding to the gridlock...

Please save the NPT ferry service, It is much loved and needed. Otherwise why was 10 million spent on cycle paths and speed bumps to the ferry terminal as well as another couple of million spent upgrading Stokes Pt. beside the terminal.
