I have created this petition after months of being subjected to and reading about other mothers being subjected to abuse and/or ridicule for breastfeeding their children in public.
I want the NHS and Government to create an advertising campaign that aims to educate people on the facts of breastfeeding BUT also on the laws protecting breastfeeding mothers.
How many times a day do you see an advert on TV/Online/Print promoting formula milk? Compare that with how many times a day you see an advert promoting breastfeeding. It is wrong and needs to be changed.
I gave birth to my son 7.5 months ago and have breastfed the whole time however the number of occasions I have either had negative comments or offensive looks is uncountable. I, fortunately, have an amazing support network or I am 100% sure I would have given up by now. Unfortunately, not everyone is as lucky as myself. Not even all health professionals/midwives assist a mother properly in her breastfeeding journey. Again, It has to change.
