Don't take away lanes from Norfolk's Hampton Blvd.

Enforce the current laws. Lane reduction will create crazy amounts of traffic during commute times.

I live in Glendale and commute the entire length of Hampton Blvd daily. 10 years of driving Hampton Blvd. tells me this is NOT the best solution.

This will make life go from bad to worse in so many ways and Meadowbrook will bear the brunt of this traffic. West Little Creek becomes a cut thru during rush hours and school children and other pedestrians are going to be harmed.

If safety is the issue, closing a lane is not the solution. Enforce the speed limit. Colley Ave is already a nightmare to drive on. Plus it looks terrible. Closing part of Hampton Blvd. is only going to cause more cars to speed up. No to the bike lanes!

Other measures should definitely be tried first. Decreasing the number of lanes will make matters worse.

I think we can agree that safety changes need to be made but reducing lanes is not one of them. To reduce traffic congestion, why not restrict tractor trailers from using Hampton Boulevard during peak travel times. Tweaking traffic signals and signal patterns to boost safety, particularly for pedestrians, dropping speed limits along the route, increasing fines for speeding, and adding more red-light cameras are all great safety measures.

This needs much more thought.

We own a house in Norfolk but are currently living in Northern VA. Losing a lane on Hampton Blvd would seriously play into our decision to return to the area. I would love to leave the traffic of NOVA behind and not to just enter another bottleneck. Please consider what this would do to the neighborhood streets as drivers would attempt to speed through those streets to avoid some of the traffic that this would undoubtedly cause. Sadly, we all know that speed limits do not slow drivers down. This area needs strict enforcement and other speed measures to slow people down, not less lanes.

This idea comes from a good place but is simply not a logical first choice to solve the problem. Speed bumps to deter reckless driving around the intersection in question is a much better idea.

You would not want bike lanes on Hampton Blvd if you lived and or worked via that route regularly. And I agree with bike lanes, when they make sense. This just doesn't.

Seriously thinking of adding bike lanes? Completely absurd! Not to mention the rest of what you are proposing is simply not the solution to the problem.

Already have traffic problems and this would make them worse.

Can only use Hampton Blvd part time. Not much to say to newcomers. Wait till 10 to go out and be home before 3. Hope no one needs emergency services.

Although I have concerns about safety on Hampton Boulevard, I do not believe that adding bike lanes is the best way to address the issue, and believe that it will exacerbate the traffic congestion problems that are already evident on a frequent basis.

There has to be a better way to fix this problem.

Traffic is far too heavy on Hampton blvd to close a lane. When Hampton blvd is backed up, speeding traffic cuts through my street to get around the traffic and we won’t need more situations like this when you actually close a lane.

Please DO NOT reduce the number of lanes on Hampton Blvd in ANY direction.
