To Norfolk's state and local representatives:

Picture this: a mid-sized, waterfront city with an enviable location on the central East Coast. A city comprised of thriving businesses, outstanding cultural and recreational opportunities, well-regarded institutions of higher education, and highly desirable neighborhoods anchored by excellent public schools. A city with a skilled, well-prepared workforce and superior quality of life.

That city can and should be Norfolk. It is a vision for our shared future that we hope you support. Unfortunately, there is a key missing piece: A fully funded public school system that is celebrated for fostering academically successful, creative, sought-after students and graduates.

We need strong and innovative public schools to educate our workers and leaders of tomorrow. Outstanding public schools attract families and businesses, strengthen neighborhoods, raise property values, and benefit everyone.

We believe that public education is vital to the strength of our community and our economy. We call on our government leaders to prioritize Norfolk's public education system as an invaluable investment in our shared future.

Updates

February 19, 2013

The local representatives have spent years ignoring our schools while our city suffers from their lack of vision. This surge in support proves that we are no longer willing to accept their excuses or their pathetic excuses for funding.

if we want people to actually move here and stay we have to fix the schools first. simple as that.
