I strongly protested this decision by this council prior to the parade. They have a lot of nerve saying they are catholic much less follower of Christ

I concur with this petition. Until this council has leadership that is faithful to the Church and her Magisterium, it should not be allowed to bear the title Knight of Columbus

Perhaps a full reading of Pope Francis' full statement is in order and not a report of what he said from the secular media.

With all due respect Matt, the Holy Father was referring to judging an individual's soul - only God has the right to do that. However, the spiritual works of mercy call us to instruct the ignorant and admonish sinners. In this case, we are called to speak out against ACTIONS that harm others by causing scandal. I pray that these individuals see the error of their ways.

It is a grave scandal when a group of individuals operating under the banner of the Knights of Columbus honors those who promote policies that are antithetical to Catholic teaching. Let us pray for their conversion.

No politician who defies Catholic teaching and approves of destroying innocent children should ever by honored by a Catholic Church organization.

The Knights have handled this situation poorly thus far. Catholics outside the Knights' circle deserve an apology, as the Knights leadership has let them down. "Circling the wagons" and hoping everything will go away is not leadership, nor is it an effective strategy for dealing with this problem.

I am a First Degree Knight who is very distrubed by the actions of Council #3548. I agree that Council #3548 should be disbanded. It would be disappointing if we instead made a rule saying that the Knights will not sponsor parades. We should engage in civic life, but we must do so in accordance with our principles and as good witnesses. Council 3548 chose clearly and with complete knowledge of its actions to separate itself, disobeying the local pastor and their Bishop. We have a remedy at a hand, which is to disband that council.
