I do think we should look into the non-toxic alternatives. This 3 minute news story is worth watching if you want more info: http://boston.cbslocal.com/2015/03/18/i-team-health-concerns-raised-over-artificial-turf-fields/

I am a parent who would not let my daughter play on the field proposed for the high school. So many warning flags, so many long-term consequences. Please consider alternatives!

Concord parent; it makes sense for CC@play and the school committee to do further research into safer alternatives to crumb rubber as other towns have recently done.

There is more you can do to assure kids play on hazard-free turf.

The exposure to toxic materials is critical to avoid with children.

This makes long-term sense.

There is no way that the science can truly be "in" with regard to the safety of crumb-rubber and similar technologies. Why not play it safe? This is not an area in which it makes any sense to take risks.

A natural infill material represents an excellent solution which will provide for the robust usage characteristics that an artificial surface is known for, while also not exposing our water resources or children to a potential source of undesirable chemical compounds.

Toxic fill is not necessary in a new field. Our School Committee has a responsibility to act safely.

The health ramifications on this will not be known for many years. WHY take a chance with our kid's lives? This is NOT a vote against new fields, just against turf fields.
