This is important because the American People do not deserve this. People with disabilities do not deserve to be taxed on a loan that is discharged because they are unable to work. Someone legally disabled should not be hit with a tax bill for 10, 15, 20 thousand dollars. These people, people just like myself barely make ends meet as it is and when we are lucky enough to be able to have a loan discharged that should be the end of it. We should not have to sit in fear that the IRS is now going to try to garnish our disability or make us set up some sort of payment plan that we can't afford. It doesn't matter if its 1 dollar a month, an extra bill is not what the American people need. People go through hell with the life changing events that cause them to become disabled and I don't think we should sit by while student loan agencies turn in these bills like we earned extra money.
