Tobacco kills. Plain and simple. It is a cold hearted murderer, but here's the catch: WE can stop it. This petition is merely more evidence to get our legislatures on borad with our cause. This past year the North Carolina general assembly cut the anti-tobacco funding like TRU (reality unfiltered) and SWAT (students warning against tobacco) and so many more programs. These programs helped cut North Carolina teen smoking by half, funded a 1-800-QUITNOW hotline, and helped pass legislation to get resturants to go smoke free; the funding, you might ask, came from the comphensation money paid to us from the tobacco companies. So, that is the states money to take right? Wrong. North Carolina is just one example, there are many more states just like this one as well. Chances are you know someone affected by this killer; causing fatal cancer or deformities. How many more must die before we can create a tobacco free generation? This cause goes beyond a state; this cause is to help our nation and most importanty the next generation.
