I propose that homework be eliminated. Students do plenty of work at school and they deserve a break to relax and have stress-free time and play time with their families once they get home. Homework isn't just hard on the kids, it's just as hard on parents who have to nag kids to get it done, help them with it, etc. Just think about how nice it would be if the families didn't have to worry about completing homework - parents are tired after coming home from work, they are fixing supper, running to games or practice, etc. and have no time for this extra nagging and making sure it gets done - excessive "busy homework" (the kind that requires kids to do a lot of copying and writing such as writing out the entire questions and the answers for a spelling definition) makes kids late getting to bed and crabby and sets the mood for the family. I propose that "homework be elminated" - if this extra practce work is so necessary, it should be done at school and it could be called "extra schoolwork" and a special time should be set aside (1/2 or so) to do this extra work with teacher's aides available if they need help. This could make homelife much more harmonious.
