We would ask the esteemed state senators, Please introduce measures that enforce present legislation already on the books in this great state, instead of continually and recklessly introducing new measures that do no more than illustrate good intentions at curbing crime. I disapprove of the following proposals: AB6525A, AB9819A, AB7331, AB3451, AB2772, AB829, AB76, and AB3447 for these are a reactionary approach and do little if anything to reduce crime, but do infringe upon my rights as a law abiding citizen. I challenge you all to instead, initiate a proactive course of action in fighting crime. Formulation of measures inflicting harsh consequences upon those that commit violent crime are measures worth considering. Examples of which are: longer prison terms, no parole for violent offenders, no plea bargains for violent offenders, more prisons, more law enforcement officers, and more options for citizens to practice self defense such as a right to carry law in place of the present permission to carry. Why is it that Albany is hell bent on removing the rights of the law abiding citizen When we, as a collective entity, remove the ability of the ordinary to protect life, liberty and property we are providing the criminal element more leverage against the law abiding. The inability to protect oneself within our own means of choice is exactly what a criminal desires. The upper hand is often sought after in any conflict and the conflict between good and evil must prevail in the interest of the ordinary citizen. But I fear that with the proposals that are presently on the floor in Albany you will deteriorate the upper hand we hold over those that would do us harm. I also fear that the current proposals will in effect, have an impact on an industry that generates both tax revenue and recreational revenue from the spurs of activities associated with the shooting sports. As many continue to leave this state in search of lower taxes and better economic conditions should we really be interested in harming one of the industries that is economically vital to the state of NY I sincerely hope that all of you will seriously consider the points above and vote AGAINST the following proposals: AB6525A, AB9819A, AB7331, AB3451, AB2772, AB829, AB76, and AB3447. Thank you for your time! Regards, Christopher J Lemke and the undersigned.
