The proposed bridge will disrupt the bottom of the sound and damage the habitats of species both endangered and used by local hunters/fishermen. This has immediate impact on the economics and sustainability of local residents in favor of tourists. Please reconsider this proposal which does not fully have funding at this time. It is better to preserve what is there than waste money, resources, and the environment on a project that might never be completed. Thank you.

I believe Corolla is overcrowded as it is without all of Duck traffic . Plus it is too expensive to commute on it for locals to ever use it!

I try to look at this bridge in the eyes of both sides. I really can see it both ways. Many residents want to protect their town and natural amenities. However this also could be a good thing for local businesses and travelers in the summer months. Regardless of your viewpoint, this project is rooted in writing from 2006 (When most rules and regulation for the NCTA were created) for the Turnpike Authority to study specifically on THIS project. This project has dragged out for a long time and it will very likely be built after the decades of work. I am very familiar with the tolling industry, especially in NC. After thoroughly looking at this project, I find it very difficult for this project to stop.

Carova Resident: Once you spoil this spot it is gone forever. When we moved here we did it knowing the perils of living close to the oceans edge. Don’t build a bridge to “save” us. I’ll add that coming from up north big projects like this move along in spite of wide spread protest because somebody is getting paid. FOLLOW THE MONEY AND FOCUS ON THOSE WHO PUSH THIS CONSTRUCTION PROJECT THE HARDEST.

I would happily wait in traffic and drive a longer distance than have another bridge built; it will only increase traffic that NC12 couldn't handle and detract from the atmosphere of Corolla.

Save the marsh and SAV! Currituck sound is losing record Akers of marsh and grass beds each year and this bridge will put the nail in the coffin.

The reality is the proposed Bridge is not needed. The Bridge will benefit few, harm more, and change the Sound and County forever--for the worse. Our waterfowling heritage will become 'virtual duck hunting', and seafood will come form Southeast Asia. The Politicians have lost pragmatism.

We spend summers on the 4x4 beach and would happily drive the extra distance versus having a bridge across the sound. I think serious consideration should be given to staggering check in days for rentals, as this is the biggest cause of traffic backups

This bridge is not necessary! North Carolina can spend that money on other projects (filling potholes, adding lanes to highways), education, mental health, etc). North Carolina, please reconsider this bridge.

I strongly oppose the building of the Mid-Currituck Bridge. Rather, STOP allowing new multi-family vacation homes and other facilities that encourage massive amounts of people in place with such a fragile ecology so easily destroyed by human activity. Stop ruining everything that ever made the Outer Banks special in the first place. Gross exploitation caused the problem we have there. Forward thinking will prevent the problem from getting worse. Further, the need for the bridge is limited only the the summer weekends. The expense is not commensurate with the problem. There are most certainly less expensive solutions.
