Kentucky American Water Company (KAWC) has raised your water rates by an alarming 37.5%. They are doing this without the ruling by the Kentucky Public Service Commission who votes on matters such as this. KAWC is trying to say that the adverage water bill is only around $25.00 a month. Well every family I have talked to adverages $50 to $60 a month. This would increase to between $70 and $90 a month. Can you afford that? “It comes on the heels of an 18 percent increase last year,” Newberry said. “Overall, this increase raises rates by approximately 60 percent over the 2008 rates. By any measure, that increase is unfair and extreme.”Says our Mayor Jim Newberry. Join me in telling the Kentucky Public Serivce Commission that we cannot afford the greed of KAWC.
