We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to intervene to ensure that Swindon Borough Council reconsider their dangerous plans before building an unnecessary school on the Croft site - ensuring that they take into account the views and information from the local community.

Over 200 people, 2 MP's (Conservative and Labour), 3 Independent expert firms, an Olympics Infrastructure expert, teachers, head teachers, a chair of governors, local residents’ associations and the Civic Voice appear to have been either, ignored, patronised or bullied.

Why?

Perhaps because Swindon Borough Council was able to award planning permission to Swindon Borough Council to build on land owned by Swindon Borough Council and never expected anyone to question their process and plans? Whilst most communities would welcome a new 420 pupil primary school with open arms, this community became increasingly concerned throughout the process, when it seemed obvious that the need was elsewhere in Swindon and that little seemed to add up.

When people asked their elected Councillors questions, they were told to find out for themselves, which they did. The more they uncovered, the more alarming it became. When they repeatedly raised their concerns to the Council, they were told that the process was robust, open and transparent.

We reject the Council's process and their decision to award themselves permission against the weight of local opposition. The Old Town area of Swindon is not a natural habitat for placard waving but, the apparent disregard for due process, public funding ,safety, the local community and the natural environment united a community. How does localism fit with this?

The traffic is bad enough already. Absolutely no room for a school there and they know it.

Listen to the residents for once. We know the area better than some suit in an office.

Total joke. They need to stop this before it ruins the whole road.

Spent so much time fighting this. They clearly have no idea what they are doing and just care about ticking boxes. STOP and reconsider!!

Ridiculous decision. Council just doing whatever they want again without thinking of the congestion or the people living right next to it.

This whole thing smells fishy. Why are they ignoring everyone who actually lives here???
