Adding fees for adu's contradicts the intent of adding additional affordable housing. Progressive rates, already in place, take care of additional usage at each water meter/ address. Pay for what is used would be a better method to govern adu's, than adding additional fees, because those additional fees immediately would be passed along to the renter of the adu's, becoming, less affordable housing. The goal is more affordable housing.

I believe this is not a path the city should be going down to raise money. Higher fees for more water usage would be a better alternative. ADU's are one of the only rental solutions for some people here here in White Salmon and a good way to have spare room for friends and family. We are planning on building a garage with an ADU within the year. If this passes we will not build an ADU and instead consider moving from White Salmon.

This needs to be looked at from it's effect on attracting buyers and needed in-fill development in WS

Enforcing this ADU definition effectively regressively taxes housing, and the area already lacks affordable housing. Portland's ADU definition is much clearer and more enforceable, requiring separate utility metering and separate heating/ventilation of the ADU space. Will White Salmon inspect each guest bedroom or bathroom in my house to find whether my aging friend or mother in law has a microwave or small frig??
If the city needs to raise more money, let's talk about that instead of creating an unenforceable and regressive housing situation.

its sad that one of our natural resources such as water has a price attached to it now. People can't even afford to buy food, won't be able to pay for water and won't be able to live. So against this!

We need affordable housing in White Salmon. While the city should consider reasonable fees for ADUs, the fee strcuture put forward is unreasonable.

I am in favor of waiving the extra hookup fees in the case of ADU's. We need more affordable housing options and this would provide one.

I don't have an ADU, but it seems pretty clear that our town town could use more affordable housing options.
Why drive up the cost of our town's most affordable housing options?
Residents of ADU's are not likely to be big water consumers (the ADU's I've seen didn't come with huge lawns, gardens or pools).
