Hello, The purpose of this petition is to address the issue of youth sports leagues in Loudoun County, VA scheduling games on Sundays. The reason why playing organized sports on Sundays is an issue is because we have been commanded by our Father in heaven to keep the Sabbath day holy. Given this commandment, people who obey this commandment are missing out on great opportunities to compete at higher a higher level in various sports. The sport that I am focusing on at this point is basketball. My son plays AAU basketball in Loudoun, VA however, during the winter basketball season, he has been forced to play house basketball becauase all of the middle school teams in the area play ALL games on the Sabbath. In order for my son to play on his middle school team this coming season, Loudoun County Parks & Recreation needs to change game days for the middle school teams to any day other than Sunday so that children whos families keep the Sabbath day holy are able to partake of the various sporting activities.
