NO to gigantic power lines across the River Moy, Swinford, Co. Mayo, IRELAND.
We, the undersigned, fishers and others OPPOSE the placing of pylons for 400,000 Volt overhead pylon power lines across the River Moy at Cloonlumney/Cloonacanna bridge, Swinford, Co. Mayo.
It is proposed to install 33m to 45m pylons along this stretch of the River Moy to carry the power lines. This stretch of the River Moy is a natural beauty and is an amenity used by many locals and tourists for salmon and trout fishing. We welcome many tourists from the UK, France, Germany, Russia etc. each year. There are also several families living very close to the proposed route.
The installation of these overhead extra high voltage power lines and pylons will cause un-tolled damage to tourism, the environment and health. It is known that the possibility of extra high voltage power lines causing higher incidences of childhood leukaemia and other serious illnesses cannot be excluded.
The installation of these overhead extra high voltage power lines and pylons is not an acceptable solution.
Thank you.
